This last week of the NFL was probably the most crazy yet. Probably the biggest upset that will happen did happen, and some of the players who were performing didn’t show up. This next week should be just as unpredictable, but here we go with my feeble attempt at it anyway.
Game of the Week: Packers (3-1) @ Cowboys (3-1) [Cowboys -3.5]
These two teams seem like they can’t avoid drama every time they matchup. Whether it be the Randall Cobb catch, the Mason Crosby field goal, the Dez Bryant catch, this matchup never fails to deliver. In the modern day both of these teams are 3-1 losing their first games last week. Normally, I’d pick the Packers due to their knack for topping the Cowboys no matter the matchup but that doesn’t take into account one thing. The loss of Davante Adams. The Packers don’t have anyone to throw to and that will be their downfall. Their defense will keep the game close but overall I think Dak manages to pull together a good outing and win a close game.
Score Prediction: 17-20 Cowboys
Upset Watch: Cardinals (0-3-1) @ Bengals (0-4) [Bengals -3.5]
So this may not be the most interesting match-up in the world but I do think the Cardinals pull it out. Kyler Murray is getting killed behind that subpar offensive line but I think his talent prevails.
But let’s talk about the Bengals. They look awful. Ever since Andy Dalton’s big performance in week one, their offense has looked stagnant. Joe Mixon can’t get off the ground, Ross hasn’t looked the same as week one and that’s not even mentioning their defense. The Cardinals may finally get on the board with their first win.
Score Prediction: 17-10 Cardinals
Thursday Night Football: Rams (3-1) @ Seahawks (3-1) [Seahawks -2]
The Rams aren’t favored to win a game? Is this real life? Should be. Jared Goff is an average to below average road Quarterback and not only that, it’s a short week for the entire Rams team after a devastating 55-40 loss to the Buccaneers. The Seahawks of course are hurt by the short week but coming off a convincing win against the Cardinals, I think they pull it out in a high scoring event.
Score Prediction: 29-34 Seahawks
Sunday Night Football: Colts (2-2) @ Chiefs (4-0) [Chiefs -11]
I think this would have been fun before Andrew Luck hung up the cleats. Now a days Jacoby Brissett runs the team and the line predicts a two score victory from the Chiefs. I’ll give some credit to Jacoby and this Colts team, they’ve been competitive, they’ve looked decent, but I cant pick them to beat this Chiefs team or honestly keep it close.
Score Prediction: 16-35 Chiefs
Monday Night Football: Browns (2-2) @ 49ers (3-0) [49ers -3.5]
The Browns are coming off a huge win in Baltimore this last Sunday. A lot of Media wrote them off against the Ravens who handled the Dolphins and Cardinals while keeping it close against the Chiefs. The Browns showed up and blew the birds out. They look good, but so do the 49ers. They are the only undefeated team in the NFC following the losses of the Packers, Rams, Cowboys and Lions. I won’t be fooled by the record though. They are a good team don’t get me wrong but the teams they’ve played are a combined 3-9 and were 1-8 before this week. I give this game to a Browns team riding high to end the 49ers streak.
Score Prediction: 28-21 Browns
Baltimore Ravens (2-2) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3) [Steelers +3.5]
Score Prediction: 27-20 Ravens
Chicago Bears (3-1) @ Oakland Raiders (2-2) [Raiders +5]
Score Prediction: 17-13 Bears
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) @ Carolina Panthers (2-2) [Panthers -3.5]
Score Prediction: 21-20 Jaguars
Minnesota Vikings (2-2) @ New York Giants (2-2) [Giants +5.5]
Score Prediction: 23-20 Vikings
New England Patriots (4-0) @ Washington Redskins (0-4) [Redskins +15.5]
Special Note: The Redskins should not start Dwayne Haskins in this game. Throwing him out to the wolves to get Killed by the Patriots is not good management of a young player.
Score Prediction: 41-12 Patriots
New York Jets (0-4) @ Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) [Eagles -13.5]
Score Prediction: 9-30 Eagles
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) @ New Orleans Saints (3-1) [Saints -3]
Score Prediction: 28-35 Saints
Atlanta Falcons (1-3) @ Houston Texans (2-2) [Texans -5]
Score Prediction: 23-25 Texans
Denver Broncos (0-4) @ Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) [Chargers -6.5]
Score Prediction: 13-28 Chargers
What a weird weekend. Plenty of upsets, shocking close games, and backdoor covers. So at least pick wise, we went 8-8 in both spread and pick records. All things balanced, as they should be.
Pick For Pick Record: 41-22-1
Cover the Spread Record: 32-32
